Plant Based Smoothies

Three years ago, my husband and I started having a smoothie for breakfast every day. I love these because they fill me up and let me start my day fueled by plants. We found an amazing plant-based superfood powder that I love and use in almost all my baking recipes as well. It’s perfect for energy balls, pancakes, waffles, muffins, and ice cream for the kids. Plus, it packs in 15 superfoods, has a perfect score for protein digestibility, is a great glycogen replacement for after workouts, and it doesn’t hurt that MD Anderson Cancer Institute has used in a clinical study and is currently using the data and colleting more data on the use of it with cancer patients.

So, you can probably tell I’m slightly obsessed and will likely use this plant-based powder for the rest of my life. Here are some of my favorite smoothie recipes. I will post our favorite muffin recipe and energy ball recipe later this week. Stay tuned and I hope you too will be powered by plants in the morning.

Plant Based Smoothies

Smoothies That My Family Loves:

Peanut Butter Cup:

1 cup plant milk (we use cashew or unsweetened almond milk)

1 serving chocolate plant powder (can use cocoa or cacao)

1 tbsp natural peanut butter

Ice (optional) ** I freeze all fruits/veggies because it makes the smoothie creamier)

Mary Ann’s Famous Smoothie (this is my five year old’s fav)

1 frozen banana

Handful frozen strawberries

Handful frozen blueberries

2-3 leaves of spinach

1 cup unsweetened almond milk (chocolate or vanilla)

Leave You Thriving All Day Smoothie:

1 frozen banana

½ avocado

Handful spinach

1-2 pinches of sprouts (broccoli, clover, radish- they come all together or separate. Can pick all or just one. In the produce section)

1 large scoop of natural peanut butter

1 tbsp ground flax (Walmart actually carries all three of these flax/chia/hemp at really good prices)

½ tbsp chia

½ hemp hearts

Handful of walnuts or pumpkin seeds (optional)

2 scoops chocolate plant powder

2.5 cups unsweetened plant milk

Mystery Smoothie

½ frozen banana (I like frozen fruits/veggies because it makes it extra creamy)
Handful frozen kale
Handful frozen mango
Handful frozen butternut squash
¼ beet
1-2 scoops vanilla plant-based powder
8-16 oz plant milk

Place ingredient in order as listed into blender. Blend and enjoy.

Helpful Tip:

Take 5 Ziplock bags and get your ingredients that you want to use for a smoothie. Fill each bag with ingredients. Place in freezer and in the morning, plop that bad boy into the blender. Add plant milk and blend. Less than 5 minutes to have an amazing, plant based breakfast!
